Bolingbrook’s Clow International Airport is a public-use general aviation airport owned by the Village of Bolingbrook, about 29 miles southwest of the Chicago Loop. It began as a grass strip in the 1950s, has a single 3,360-foot asphalt runway (18/36), and is home to the Illinois Aviation Museum. The based fleet is mostly single-engine pistons, with a few twins — classic owner-flown aircraft.

Clow International (1C5) Aircraft Detailing FAQ

Can you detail my plane at my hangar or tie-down at Clow?

Yes. Avioera is fully mobile and comes to your aircraft at 1C5 with our own equipment and certified, aviation-safe chemicals. Call or text (708) 586-9429 with your tail number, where the aircraft is parked, and when you next plan to fly. We’re on call 24/7.

What does it cost to detail a single-engine piston at Bolingbrook?

Starting rates for piston and single-engine aircraft are $600 – $1,100 for exterior detailing and $450 – $850 for interior detailing. Booking exterior and interior in the same visit saves money compared with booking them separately. Your exact price depends on size and condition and is confirmed before any work begins — see our Pricing page.

Do you detail twins and turboprops too?

Yes. Light twins are quoted by size and condition, and light jet / turboprop starting rates are $1,100 – $1,900 for exterior and $800 – $1,500 for interior. Our Services page explains what each service covers.

My cowling and belly are covered in oil and exhaust. Can that be cleaned?

Yes. Belly and exhaust-stain degreasing is part of our exterior detail, using certified, aviation-safe degreasers. Engine cowling / inlet detailing is available as an add-on from $225, and polished aluminum / brightwork restoration starts at $900.

How should I prepare my aircraft for winter at 1C5?

A thorough clean before the cold sets in keeps bugs, grime, and road salt carried in on hangar floors from sitting on the paint all season. Our guide How to Protect Your Aircraft’s Paint Through a Chicago Winter covers the basics, and Ceramic Coating for Aircraft: A Chicago Owner’s Guide explains longer-lasting protection (packages from $3,000).

Can I set up regular detailing so I don’t have to schedule each time?

Yes. Our recurring maintenance plan is $300 – $750 per aircraft, per month, with weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly visits. Not sure how often you need it? Read How Often Should You Detail Your Private Aircraft in Chicago? For cabin care, see What’s Included in a Private Jet Interior Detail?
